Salary Premiums Reflect IT Skills in Hot Demand

As National IT Professionals Day is being observed today in parts of the world, it is a good time to recognize that the value to companies of IT and data-centric skills is only expanding at a time in which AI and other emerging technologies are adding complexity to the business technology landscape.

“Data literacy is the key to harnessing these intelligent systems, and IT leaders must help train people to use those systems and the data within them effectively,” according to Trevor Schulze in The Enterprisers Project. “The first step starts with IT and building their own data literacy skills.”

Lightcast, an independent authority in labor market analytics and insights, analyzed billions of data points from July 2021 to July 2022 to determine the impact of ISACA credentialing—including ITCA—related to the latest technology trends by assessing the degree to which ISACA certifications contribute to growth, opportunities and productivity of students, employees and employers. Demand for ITCA-related skills is rising

  • Demand for ITCA-related skills such as Data Ethics and DevSecOps will grow 100%-250% over the next five years.
  • Online job posting demand for ITCA-related skills has steadily grown at 10% on average, year-over-year, since 2015.
  • 12 million ITCA-skill-related jobs were posted in 2022.

Salary premiums for ITCA-related skills (in US dollars):

  • Computing Fundamentals: $2,400-$20,000
  • Cybersecurity Fundamentals: $6,000-$25,000
  • Data Science Fundamentals: $1,000-$25,000
  • Software and Development Fundamentals: $7,440-$27,000
  • Networks and Infrastructure Fundamentals: $2,400-$30,000
