A global pandemic did not stop the dedicated and passionate ISACA members, staff and their families around the world from giving back to their local communities on ISACA’s second annual CommunITy Day. Together – yet largely apart, given the COVID-19 restrictions – we tracked the positive impact each member and chapter had on 3 October 2020 and were thrilled to surpass expectations. In a year as challenging as 2020 has been, ISACA continues to focus on building community and helping those in need. The creativity behind how to participate safely was inspiring as everyone’s health was our top priority.

We saw many virtual events, from cybersecurity tutorials for teachers, seniors and children, to chapter livestreams broadcasting donation drop-offs, to fundraising activities. Additionally, we donated more than US$16K to a variety of charities worldwide helping orphans, victims of wildfires, One In Tech and schools, and we donated countless masks, clothes, food pantry items and blankets. Other participants gathered in small groups to refurbish buildings, clean up the environment or participate in community walks building awareness for many different causes. Some chose to participate with their families at home by translating documents, sending e-cards to hospitalized children or coloring pictures to send to sick or isolated people who could use a smile.
