When ISACA certification candidates take an exam, the content of that exam was created and reviewed by ISACA volunteers.

When our global community of learners read COBIT publications or exam prep guides in a language other than English, that material was likely translated by ISACA volunteers.

When ISACA chapter members attend a local chapter event, whether in-person or virtually, that event was planned and executed by ISACA volunteers

When you visit the ISACA website and enjoy a recent video, article, or podcast, we often rely on the subject matter expertise of ISACA volunteers.

I could go on, but you get the picture – just about all ISACA’s global impact is powered by a remarkably talented and devoted community of ISACA volunteers.

As we celebrate Volunteer Appreciation Week, I would like to share a handful of statistics from the past year, reflecting the passion and commitment of ISACA volunteers around the globe:

  • 🤩 More than 7,000 people have formally expressed interest in volunteering.
  • 📈. The ISACA community combined logged more than 6,400 volunteer hours during our 2021 CommunITy Day of global volunteering, including 2,115 volunteer activities completed.
  • 👩🏻‍💻 More than 300 people have committed to the SheLeadsTech Ambassador pledge, pledging to support the increase of the representation of women in the tech workforce, advocate for diverse hiring practices, speak up for diversity, and more.
  • 👥. More than 300 people participated in ISACA’s mentorship program pilots, with great success. ISACA’s formal, member-exclusive program will launch later this year, and those who are interested should pay attention to ongoing member communications. This work directly supports the future of the profession!
  • 👩🏽‍🏫. More than 100 volunteers contributed to translation of ISACA learning materials.

These and so many other selfless contributions from ISACA volunteers make our community the powerful network that it has been for more than 50 years. I am continually inspired by our members’ passion for sharing their knowledge and expertise with others to elevate the profession and help their colleagues take their careers to the next level.

One of ISACA’s major goals going forward is to continue to expand our global impact by ensuring ISACA is offering the best value and meaningful experiences to members based on where they are at in their career journey. To do that, we will rely heavily on our chapters and volunteers all around the world to shape the work. In other words, if possible, our volunteers will become even more integral to ISACA’s success.

If you are reading this as somebody who has volunteered your time: thank you, merci, gracias, danke, grazie, obrigado, mam’noon, dhanyavaad, xièxiè, shukraan, arigato, khàawp-khun! Know that your efforts are deeply appreciated by the entire global ISACA community.

If you have not yet volunteered but would like to know more, please look at our Engage online community for the opportunities available.

In the meantime, whether in person, on social media or through an old-fashioned phone call, be sure to thank an ISACA volunteer or two this week. And the next time an ISACA resource is helpful in your professional journey, don’t forget about the volunteer contribution that made it possible.
