Advancing Digital Trust on Capitol Hill, in Parliament and Beyond

You’ve likely seen by now our inspiring rally cry, “In pursuit of digital trust.” In the four months since we’ve launched our digital trust vision, ISACA already has taken big steps to equip our members with the guidance and tools they need to advance digital trust in their organizations.

Earlier this month, we took exciting leap forward by bringing our digital trust message to government officials from the UK, Ireland and the US on Capitol Hill.

In the UK, ISACA’s Chief Global Strategy Officer, Chris Dimitriadis, and I had the great pleasure of meeting with members of Parliament and the UK Cyber Security Council. We also attended a joint event held by chapters of ISACA and The IIA.

In Ireland, we met with high-level government IT executives and related agencies. We officially opened our first European office in Ireland and were honored to have it recognized by Ireland’s Minister of State for eGovernment, Ossian Smyth. In addition, we were joined by the Ireland Chapter committee board and university representatives at the official launch and opening event.

A week later, I joined members of ISACA’s staff team and leaders from five ISACA chapters—New England, Greater Washington DC Area, South Florida, Chicago and LA—in Washington DC, where we met with Congressional representatives, senators and their staff on both sides of the aisle to underscore the importance of advancing digital trust, building the tech workforce and ensuring that underrepresented communities have better access to rewarding digital trust careers.

I was heartened to see how enthusiastically our message was received and how committed all of these government officials are in supporting these bipartisan priorities. They expressed interest in attending local and national ISACA events, they requested more information, and they asked our opinion about legislation they’re considering. We left these meetings with the knowledge that our message was heard, appreciated and actionable.

ISACA is committed to doing our part and to partnering with governments, academic institutions and enterprises around the world so we can pursue digital trust more rapidly, more efficiently and more collaboratively, to the benefit of the entire global community.

We’re also spreading the digital trust message and good practices in globally respected business and tech media. Did you see ISACA’s State of Digital Trust research featured in Fortune recently? We held media roundtables on that research in the UK and India, with articles resulting in several outlets throughout both countries, and we spoke with journalists and analysts around the world. State of Digital Trust has been featured in about 50 publications worldwide, just two weeks after its launch.

Additionally, we’ve put together a Digital Trust Advisory Council comprised of globally recognized industry leaders in trust. These leaders will help us make our guidance, learning resources and events even more valuable and practical for you because it will reflect the very real challenges and opportunities they are seeing every day as the preeminent leaders in the field. We’ll gather these leaders together and introduce them to you at ISACA Conference Europe next month. I hope to see you there!

All of these relationships and results are made possible in large part because of our passionate and enthusiastic chapters leaders, volunteers, evangelists and members. We are holding similar government meetings in Europe and the UK with chapters there, and chapters in other areas of the world often work directly with government officials and agencies as well. And thousands of our members help spread the word in presentations, articles, blogs, podcasts and LinkedIn posts.

Together, we are changing the digital world by making it a more secure, more trusted and more valuable place to be—and these recent visits reinforced that some of the most influential leaders in the world are interested in joining us on this journey.
