ISACA Community Shows Off Its Diverse Talents in 2020 #IamISACA Stories

ISACA members are well-known as experts in IT auditing, managing risk, implementing sound governance and addressing security vulnerabilities.

But belly dancers? Heavy metal guitarists? Prolific Instacart grocery shoppers? Polished calligraphers?

It turns out, the passions of the ISACA community are as diverse as the 188 countries and 223 chapters worldwide from which ISACA members come.

Beginning in April, our #IamISACA series has told the stories of the accomplished, volunteer-minded and multitalented people who make up the ISACA community. We hope you have enjoyed reading and viewing these stories as much as we have enjoyed sharing them, and that the stories have brought the ISACA community a little closer together in a year in which we have had to keep our physical distance. See our video look-back at the #IamISACA stories of 2020.

Stay tuned for more #IamISACA stories and videos in 2021. In the new year, we will especially be on the lookout to tell the stories of newcomers to the IT industry and professionals who are learning to harness emerging technologies. If you would like to be featured in the series or know someone who has a great story to tell, let us know at communicationsteam@isaca.org.

I have been fascinated by technology transformation since the days of typewriters, facit calculators, carbon transfer papers, and the first monochrome monitors being used, when it took three days for an email to be transmitted from one PC to another in the same room.

"I have visited projects in the slums working to better the community, but I have also sat in the same room as world leaders and technocrats as we discussed solutions to challenges facing young people. When all is said and done, if I can help even just one person through my acts of service, then I will have done my part."

- Esanju Maseka, CISA

By day, I am an engineer expert in audit, cybersecurity, governance, risk, control, privacy and fraud, and by night I am a lead heavy metal guitarist, a griller, a magician, a traveler in search of the ultimate experience, and an award-winning speaker.

- Arnulfo Espinosa Domínguez, CISA, CIA, CISM, CRISC, CDPSE, CSX F&A, COBIT 5 F/IARES Alliance President

It took a long time for me to come to terms with the fact that I’m not just one of the guys, but a grown woman working in the IT field. My belly dance classes and the group of women I met there helped me to find the right balance.

- Gabriella Biró, Head of IT Supervision, Central Bank of Hungary

It might have been a coincidence that I was in Singapore when Norway’s lockdown came about, but to those who know me, it was no surprise that I was on a trip somewhere. So far, I've been to more than 120 countries on all seven continents. There’s a saying that ‘travel is the only thing you buy that makes you richer,’ and I believe there is a lot of truth to that.
