If you want to be able to say you are certified without having to wait for many months (announcing the beta, taking the beta and then waiting months for the score), the OCPJP 7 is a fine choice. There are also more study materials for the version 7 exam since it actually exists.
Note that you don't need to have actually passed the OCA to take the OCP. You just have to pass both (in either order) to actually be certified. [I took the OCP 7 before the OCA 7 because I wanted to take it before the beta ended for that one.)

Remember, 1Z0-808 is associate exam, so if you want you can also give OCAJP SE 8, not sure if it has launched yet or not.
