Gradle build scripts can be written in either Kotlin or Groovy? What is actually the difference using them? Kotlin was introduced later: does that mean that Groovy will be deprecated at some time?

I think that's unlikely. Kotlin is the go-to language in the Android world (where using Gradle is required), so most Android programmers know Kotlin much better than Groovy. But Kotlin use in the wider Java world is much less pronounced, so I don't think Groovy will be dropped.

Yeah. Kotlin is pretty much specific to Android and is largely the product of the Android crowd needing constructs that Java wasn't well-suited to provide and to have a place prepared to bail to in the event that Oracle's lawyers ever managed to bring the hammer down on Dalvik Java.

Groovy, on the other hand, is a general-purpose language with no special ties to any platform.

The secret of how to be miserable is to constantly expect things are going to happen the way that they are "supposed" to happen.

You can have faith, which carries the understanding that you may be disappointed. Then there's being a willfully-blind idiot, which virtually guarantees it.

With a little knowledge, a cast iron skillet is non-stick and lasts a lifetime.
