The
JavaRanch uses a heavily modified branch of the base
JForum code, which has been put together by the staff. Below is a list of some of the changes made by contributors.
UBB to JForum
Originally the site used the UBB forums software but in 2009 it was decided to move to a
Java based forum to give the staff greater control over the features. The bulk of the migration planning, data migration and the management was done by Pauline McNamara and
Jeanne Boyarsky. Ernest Friedman-Hill, Ulf Dittmer and
Jeanne Boyarsky all did too much work to recount, both for initial cutover and ongoing feature enhancements.
