Microsoft Azure Architecture & Cloud Icon Set in SVG Format

I use these icons in images for BuildAzure.com, in addition to my user group / conference talk slides, and any other training content I develop. They really help enhance the professional look and feel of the content that I build, and increase the brand cohesiveness between the products I’m writing about and the Microsoft branding for them.

The download consists of a .zip file that contains a collection of .svg images for the various Microsoft Azure icons. You can import these images directly into Microsoft PowerPoint, or even open them in your browser and take screenshots of them from there. Microsoft has stated that they are planning to update the downloaded collection of icons over time.

What can I use these Azure icons for?

You can use this download collection of Azure icons for the following purposes:

  • Use the icons to illustrate how products can work together
  • In diagrams, to represent the specific Azure service. It’s recommended to use the Azure service name in your diagrams as well to alleviate potential confusion.
  • Use the icons as they would within Azure
  • Include Azure icons in your architectural diagrams, training materials, or documentation to represent Microsoft Azure services.

FYI, these Azure icons are provided by Microsoft and the downloaded .zip collection contains Microsoft’s Terms of Use for using the icons. Please reference the Terms of Use included alongside the icons in the .zip download for a full list of terms you need to adhere to when using these icons.

What file format are the images?

The icons in this collection are in SVG (Scalable Vector Graphic) format. You can easily resize these images to fit your needs without compromising on the quality of the icons in your diagrams, PowerPoints, etc.

The icons in this collection are in SVG (Scalable Vector Graphics) format. This format is a vector-based format that uses mathematical equations and geometric primitives to represent images and graphics. Unlike formats like PNG or JPEG, an SVG image is resolution-independent, meaning it can be scaled to any size without losing quality. This makes SVG an ideal image format for icons, logos, and other graphics that need to be resized frequently.

Do the Azure Icons work in PowerPoint?

Absolutely! Office 365 versions of PowerPoint support importing .svg file based images. So including these in your PowerPoints are extremely simple. You can drag and drop, or import, the icon .svg files to include them in your presentations and/or architecture diagrams created using Microsoft PowerPoint.

Can I use these Azure Icons to represent my own product or service?

No, the Azure icons are provided for download by Microsoft for you to use in architectural diagrams, training materials, or documentation. You may not use them to represent your own products or services.

Can I modify the Azure icons?

No, modifying the Azure icons when using them is not included in the Terms of Use that Microsoft licenses these icons with. Please refer to the Terms of Use included in the Azure icon download .zip file for full Terms of Use details to adhere to.

The Azure icon download is not provided by Build5Nines.
