A friend ordered a large Americano with her lunch, and was asked whether she wanted milk with it. An Americano is by definition black and therefore it wouldn't have milk, but the waitress said that lots of people asked for milk with it, “hot milk, cold milk, white milk”. That started me thinking: why put white milk in your black coffee? You need black milk so it retains its color and appearance. We should start a kickstarter to try feeding cows ink so they will produce black milk for putting into black coffee.

Would charcoal work as well, do you think? It would be a lot less expensive than ink.

Well, since Starbucks coffee is made from charcoal to begin with, wouldn't that be redundant?

Coffee? Coffee?

Why didn't you say that earlier, Tim. Make sure it is really strrrrrrrrrrrrrrong coffee, to get the cows agitated, and it will be possible to make ready‑whipped cream in the milking parlour. What a good idea!

Did someone say coffee - Ted Talk - What you didn't know about coffee (but I don't agree with all his wild historic claims!)
I can confirm a small popcorn machine can roast coffee beans, and fresh coffee is so much better that pre-roasted.

I use a paint stripper gun and an old iron pressure-cooker pot. It's not something you do indoors, though!

Way back when, I think it was common to roast beans in a cast-iron skillet on the stove, but that was before we sealed up houses and applied air conditioning.
