exam flash cards

I have just started prepping for the exam. It occurs to me that there is quite a bit of rote memorization for this. Yes, you need to understand it, but memorization plays a big part.
From my school days, I remember using flash cards to test rote memorization. Does someting like that exist for these exams?

Howdy -- there was somebody a few years ago who *did* sell flashcards for the exam, but I can't remember who. But as a big flash-card evangelist, I can tell you that we have our students make their own, and it works GREAT. At least half of the benefit is in the *making* of the flash card. If you know anyone else studying, you could try each making some and then exchanging them.
Just the process of figuring out what to remember and how to write the question reaches a different part of your brain.

I have the following to say regarding the FLASH CARDS:
It was just a week before my SCJP2 exam that I was not at all feeling very confident. The main reason was that I was missing out on some API related questions in the mock exams. So I was consistently scoring around 85%, with which I was not satisfied. That was when I wrote my first message in this forum and Dan Chisholm gave me the idea to make flash cards. That night itself I bought some cards and started writing the APIs. I did one card for every important class/interface, the APIs listed in the order of importance (not alphabetically). I used a highlighter for the most important ones.
Just in 2 to 3 days, I saw the difference in my mock scores. This really helped to increase my confidence level and my final score. I again used this technic very sucessfully for my SCWCD exam.
My take on the APIS is : In the real exam there will be definitely some tricky questions that one will miss. So it is very important to keep your API questions 100% correct, which is relatively easy to achieve. This should help you to score high marks.
Now I am really fond of FLASH CARDS.
