Hi Shantana,
The benefits of JSF are that you can develop complex web applications, with rich UI components, and the development is relatively easy.
AJAX is a technology which can be used on any web page. The benefit of AJAX is that you do not have to send the whole page back to the server if only a small portion of the page has changed. The classic example of this is if you have an address form for the user to fill out. In the 'Country' drop down listbox the user chooses his country. AJAX sends only the country value chosen by the user to the server (not the entire page) and the server returns the list of states/counties in that country (not an entirely new page) back to the original page. Then AJAX populates the 'State/County' drop down listbox with the values which are relevant only to the country that the user chose.
Combining the rich GUI components of JSF with the improved interaction of AJAX gives the end user a responsive, feature rich web application that feels exactly like the rich desktop applications that they are used to.
That is the benefit of using AJAX with JSF.

Fintan
