Ticket 16 – IPv6 RIPng OSPFv3 Redistribution

March 16th, 2015 in TSHOOT v2 Go to comments

Problem: Loopback address on R1 (2026::111:1) is not able to ping the loopback address on DSW2 (2026::102:1).

Configuration of R4:
ipv6 router ospf 6
ipv6 router rip RIP_ZONE
 redistribute ospf 6 metric 2 include-connected

Ans1) R4
Ans2) Ipv6 OSPF Routing
Ans3) Under ipv6 ospf process add the ‘redistribute rip RIP_Zone include-connected’ command

Elle, Can you please tell us about your experience? I am planning to sit for the exam this month. Is networktut.com enough to help someone pass the exam?
Thank you so much for your reply

  3. Ticket question
    March 8th, 2016

Is ticket one, OSPF issue, always ticket one or the OSPF fault may be ticket 2 or ticket 5, etc?

Yes networktut.com is all you need to pass; premium membership will give you access to all the materials you need to pass it the first time. All the best.

(On Ticket 16) why the ping fail from R3 to interface 2026:12:1 on R1

  7. ak
    April 8th, 2016

Easyyy now!!! – Ping test from R3 to interface 2026:12:1 on R1 within the TSHOOT Infrastructure do NOT fail in any way!!!

    Pls look here:

    R3#sh ipv6 route 2026::12:1

    Routing entry for 2026::12:0/122
Known via “ospf 6”, distance 110, metric 128, candidate default path
Route count is 1/1, share count 0
    Routing paths:
    Last update 00:01:15 ago

    R3#ping 2026::12:1

    Type escape sequence to abort.
Sending 5, 100-byte ICMP Echos to 2026::12:1, timeout is 2 seconds:
    Success rate is 100 percent (5/5), round-trip min/avg/max = 6/48/101 ms <—- !!!

    Thus, pls notice:

BEFORE DOING ANY IPv6 Ping Tests etc. within the TSHOOT.com Infrastructure, YOU NEED TO WAIT at LEAST 40 – 45 seconds FOR FULL IPv6 NETW CONVERGENCE AFTER LAUNCHING (also) (PT) TICKET # 16!!!

FULL PT IPv4 Network Convergence – at the other hand – lasts for about 1 minute in total after Ticket Start!!! – Pls do remember these preconditions when running the TSHOOT Tickets!

    Hope this helps!?

Thanks @ak…, I was my fault…, the question was for the the premium members… Anyway I simulated every thing on GNS3 and it is working Good, no problem at all…,But as you said about wait 40 to 45 seconds…for convergence on “TSHOOT.com”. I am using the frame relay switch from GNS3, plus the time for convergence for routing protocols (ipv4/ipv6) took close 2 minutes for convergence… Thanks again …

    on GNS3
    R3#ping 2026::12:1
    Type escape sequence to abort.
Sending 5, 100-byte ICMP Echos to 2026::12:1, timeout is 2 seconds:
    Success rate is 100 percent (5/5), round-trip min/avg/max = 20/31/40 ms

    Cool tanio!
I’m glad everything now works fine within your GNS3 TSHOOT Labs!
In the PT 6.1 Labs provided here, I observed the total IPv4 Convergence time to be approx 60 Seconds after Ticket Start, incl. loading the F/R Switch and the eBGP Protocol (the latter is a VERY Complex and thus “Slow” Netw Protocol to Simulate in PT!) – (GNS3 “emulates” theese things, but it’s still quite complex to manage at u’r Desktop!)
Anyway, think it’s REAL COOL, you’ve developed your own GNS3 TSHOOT Ticket Labs to Practice on b4 exam! – You’ll learn a LOT from doing this! – Respect for that! :)
Whish you Good Luck at Exam!!!

Are these still the same tickets they have on the test? I got my CCNP 3 years ago this November and if these are the same questions should be pretty easy to recert.

    Yep – You’re right!

There’s an issue with IPv6 on Packet Tracer rel. 6.2 – 6.3 Catalyst 3560 Eth. Links! – (However IPv6 on indeed ROUTER Links works just fine in these PT releases!)

But within the Packet Tracer rel. 6.1 – IPv6 works like a charm!!!

    As shown here:

Pls try run all TSHOOT IPv6 Tickets within the former Packet Tracer 6.1 release! – Then it should work just perfect!

(Pls remember to wait for FULL PT OSPFv3 Convergence after fixing the Tickets, b4 Testing!!!)

A PT 6.1 S/W Download Link can be found at some of the most recent PT Forum Pages here!

Unfortunately the newer PT 6.2 – 6.3 releases are having some trouble when running indeed IPv6 traffic on (L3 based) Cat. 3560 Switches within these PT S/W releases!

But, perhaps this IPv6 issue has been solved within the newest Packet Tracer 7.0 Release??? – Haven’t tried it out yet, so it would be REAL nice, if somebody here could test it out, and then post a status about the case here! – THX!

    Hope this helps!

    Only networktut
I pass the exam today with score of 1000/1000 it took me 70 minute to finished it.

I had the latest dumps all off them was garbage. I just study this website go for premium.
I read all the comments and practice all the tickets on website and PT and gns3.

To pass the exam with score of 1000 this website it’s enough but to survive out there you have to study hard, by hard i mean hard! Out there the person who knows one line more its the winner so passing this exam its jut the beginning of your study’s.

Enough said this is how i did it : (i found this strategy on this website bye the ccnp-guy)

You have to ask your self Is it ipv4 or ipv6?

If IPv6 you have these 3 questions, 1 each on
    R2: (T12) IPv6: enable ospf 0
    R3: (T15) IPv6: remove “tunnel mode ipv6″
R4: (T16) missing Redistribution from RIPng to OSPFv3

If its IPv4 do the following to narrow it down:

From Client 1 ping if its :

    OK? = 3 tickets on R1:
(T03) Wrong IP of BGP neighbour
    (T04) NAT – ACL mis-configured
    (T05) WAN ACL statement missing

If you cant ping try to ping from client 1

    OK? = 1 ticket on R1:
    (T01) OSPF Authentication

If you cant ping try to ping from client 1

    OK? = 2 tickets on R4:
    (T11) Redistribute ospf to eigrp (“to” & -> )
    (T14) EIGRP Passive Interface

If you cant ping 10.2..1.1 you have 4 ticket as follow:

    NO? = 1 ticket on DSW1:
    (T06) VLAN filter

    or = 3 tickets on ASW1:

(T08) Access port not in VLAN 10
(T09) Port Channel not allowing VLAN 10,200
    (T07) Port Security

I also had multiple choice questions and Eigrp and ospf simlets

    Good luck to you all.
This is just the beginning so study hard.

pass yesterday “Alhamdo Lellah” with 1000/1000
    No new questions
    21 Q’s
13 Tickets (As mentioned in this site except TT 2,10,13)
    2 Sim ( Switch Sim 4 Q’s as mentioned here & OSPF Sim 4 Q’s as mentioned here )
6 MCQ’s exactly as mentioned here in this site.

this TT was in my exam
Note that ping from R1 to R3 failed , but from R4 to R1 succeeded, so don’t depend on ping results in this TT.
you can depend on the running-config ” show run” & the routing tables where you will not see 2026::3:/122 network in R1, R2, R3 routing tables.

  27. Another method
    October 8th, 2016

This is my TSHOOT IPV6 using show ip route method, let me know if it all seems good.

    ipv6 ospf 6 area 0 – R2
R1 and R2 are not ospf6 neighbors with each other, after runing sh ipv6 ospf nei. R2 has no
interfaces in area 0. As a result, R1 will have no OI routes for area 0 (2026::1) nor 2026::34 (area 34) that connects to area 0. But DSW will have routes for area 0 (2026::1) and 2026::34 (area 34), but not area 12 (2026::12)

    IPV6 Tunnel problem – R3
R4 has no ospf6 neighbors because the tunnel mode on R3 is not compatible. As a result
R3 will have no redistributed routes (OE2) from the DSW Ripzone (2026::3), (2026::102), and DSW will not have any routes to the OSPF6 network area 0 (2026::1), 2026::34 (area 34), or area 12 (2026::12)

    Redistribute Ripzone into OSPF -R4
No missing ospf neighbors but R3 has no redistributed routes (OE2) from the DSW Ripzone (2026::3), (2026::102). DSW1 will however have routes to ALL OSPF6 area 0 (2026::1), 2026::34 (area 34) and area 12 (2026::12)

  33. Test
    November 25th, 2016

    Hey guys,

Are we able to identify which IPv6 trouble ticket we get on the test by simply running “show run” on routers 2,3, and 4? For example, is the following running config for R4 unique to the RIP Zone trouble ticket (TT 16)? Configuration of R4:
    ipv6 router ospf 6
    ipv6 router rip RIP_ZONE
     redistribute ospf 6 metric 2 include-connected

  34. DL
    December 6th, 2016

@Test. Unless the Test questions were changed. If its IPv6 tickets, the question will explicitly state that from R1 [or other router], it failed to PING the IPv6 of another device [e.g. DSW1]

If it is a “fail to ping loop” question it can only be 1 of 3 things, either R3 and R4 has a tunnel issue or R2 is missing IPv6 OSPFv3 or R4 is missing Rip_Zone under ipv6 ospf 6

PASS with 951 but fail this question(RIPing IPV6), since the DAVID topology.pdf on main page FAQ and Tips is wrong. Ping R3 int 000.23 not responding…same for Tunnel. This made me doubt a lot because it point out to the IPV6 area 0 entry when you look over the Traceroute and ping process topology. I was pretty sur Rip_zone needed to be redistribute, but I still made a wrong choice. Anyway 951 means i would have gone 1000. I’M CCNP
