Note: The last day to take this TSHOOT 300-135 exam is February 23, 2020. After this day you have to take new Enterprise exams to get new CCNP Enterprise certification. If you want to find out more about the new exams please visit here.

This article is devoted for candidates who took the TSHOOT exam to share their experience. Please tell us what are your materials, the way you learned, your feeling and experience after taking the TSHOOT v2.0 exam… But please DO NOT share any information about the detail of the exam or your personal information, your score, exam date and location, your email…

Your posts are warmly welcome!

Exam’s Structure:

+ Some Multiple choice & drag drop questions
+ 2 Simlets
+ 15 lab-sim Questions with the same network topology (15 troubleshooting tickets or you can call it one “big” question). Each lab-sim is called a ticket and you can solve them in any order you like.

Topics of the lab-sims:

1- IPv6
2- OSPF
3- OSPFv3
4- Frame Relay
5- GRE
6- EtherChannel
7- RIPng
8- EIGRP
9- Redistribution
10- NTP
11- NAT
12- BGP
13- HSRP
14- STP
15- DHCP

The problems are rather simple. For example wrong IP assignment, disable or enable a command, authentication…

In each tickets you will have to answer three types of questions:

+ Which device causes problem
+ Which technology is used
+ How to fix it

When you press Done to finish each case, you can’t go back.

A demo of the TSHOOT Exam can be found at: http://www.cisco.com/web/learning/le3/le2/le37/le10/tshoot_demo.html

Note:

+ In the new TSHOOTv2, you cannnot use the “Abort” button anymore. Therefore you cannot check the configuration of another ticket before completing the current ticket.

+ We have gathered many questions about TSHOOT exam and posted them at TSHOOT FAQs & Tips, surely you will find useful information about the TSHOOT exam there!

Below are the topologies of the real TSHOOT exam, you are allowed to study these topologies before taking the exam. It surely saves you some invaluable time when sitting in the exam room (Thanks rrg for sharing this).

    @Joe –
    1 – sw-sw refers to port channels…T9
    2 – command is ping in the test for ipv6 ( i am shocked you want to get CCNP without knowing how to ping an ipv6) . I don’t think you want to ing ipv6 from client side…no point since the Ipv6 issues refer only to the connectivity between routers and DSW’s ( L3 switches)

    @lewt*llama

    An APIPA address is what your computer assigns itself if it is not able to pull an ip adddress via DHCP. It begins with 169.X.X.X.

    Hopes this helps.

    January 8th, 2020

    I took the test today and there was a SIM that for some reason I could not find what was wrong. Maybe you can tell me why.
    – IPv4 Sim
    – IP assigned on the client – Yes
    – ping from client default GWY – OK
    – DSW1-R4-R3-R2-R1 had all the routes
    – R4-R3-R2-R1 ospf neigh were OK
    – DSW1-R1 EIGRP nei were OK
    – R4 EIGRP (OK, not-the-issue with “passive”, no-issue with route-map (redist)
    – this leaves DHCP Helper (possibly I got the IP confused (it should be 10.2.1.129 – but then the client had an IP assigned)
    – NAT ACL on R1 looked fine
    – sh ip BGP sum – had prefixes and R1 routes looked OK

    @WHERE_IS_IT

    it could be one of the few tickets, if you confirm NAT was good. Then it could be the bgp ticket where bgp stuck in active state due to acl

    Did you try ping from R1 to the destination IP?

  6. Chil
    January 8th, 2020

    Hi WHERE_IS_IT. have you passed the exam? are you sure this is a IPV4 ticket? If you can ping from client to web server it should be a IPV6 ticket

  7. flamingo
    January 8th, 2020

    not much accurate info given
    – ping should give you a clue where the issue is. I understand you can ping the gateway meaning that the issue can be anywhere from DSW1 up to the Web server. Have u tried to ping s0/0/1 on R1 (209.65.200.225) , how about 209.65.200.226?
    – according to your post if dsw1-r1-r2-r3-r4 have all routes you should look into R1 NAT, R1 ACL or BGP relationship .

    @flamingo

    Yep I believe it is vlan filter too, as question is asking to fix connectivity for both pc1 and pc2 and if you select the other option will only fix for pc1 and not pc2.

  9. flamingo
    January 8th, 2020

    @icebw22 :

    according to him, he is able to ping the gateway. I think vlan filter will not allow you to ping DSW1 10.2.1.254 from vlan 10.

    Hello All, (first sorry for my bad English)
    I just passed it today with 1000/1000, everything I studied is from this site.

    A few thing that freaked me out during the exam:
    – I tried to tracert from the client1 and it didn´t worked. Tried traceroute from the RTs and did not work either, so don´t rely on that.

    – In the Ticket 7 or the one that has 2 err-disabled interfaces in ASW1, the “show int status” is not allowed in the exam. It can be used in this site, although is not on the list of available commands, so try not to use it in here either, so you practice the real experience.

    – The ticket 9 of the 2 trunk interfaces allowing the wrong vlans and the f0/1 shutdown, I chose the answer that this site provides:
    Ans1)ASW1
    Ans2)Switch to switch connectivity
    Ans3)Under interface Port-Channel 13, 23, add vlan 10,200 and then no shutdown interface fa1/0/1
    Again, I passed with 1000 so, it has to be the correct answer.

    – Other thing, just as a reminder since it is explained in this site, in Ticket 4: even if the error is in R1, in the exam you are going to be able to ping the web server from all the routers. When I was practicing some tshooting tickets, if the error was in the R1, for example the “ip nat inside” statement in the ISP Interface, instead of “ip nat outside”; in this site I was not able to ping from RT2, 3, 4, etc etc… so it helps you figure out the error is in R1. In the Examn I got this ticket and I almost loose my mind because ping was working from all the Routers. I realize the real error by checking the running-config from each device.

    show run is allowed, dont worry. Ahhh you dont have to save any configuration from the BGP Simulator or anything like that, just in case.

    This is my second time doing this examn, first time was like 3 years ago to get the CCNP certification, this time to renew it, both time I passed using this site. All the Troubleshoot tickets and topology are the same as 3 years ago, so it shouldnt change from here to Feb23, only changed the MCQs and the DnD, and I got the same as the Nov update, nothing different from that date. I recommend the Premium Membership. I repeat: all the MCQs and DnD and everything on my exam was from this site, nothing new!

    Hello i pass today with 1000

    All the questions and the tikets are the same.
    I was confused with one of the tikets.
    – ping 10.2.1.1 no responds
    – the access port had port security configuration but after checked show int fa1/0/1 the port was up up state although the sh port-sec int fa1/0/1 show 1 violation. The right asnwer was that the ip helper address was wrong.
    Be carefull .

    Hi for the question below, isn’t more likely answer D? VTP isn’t part of DTP correct?

    Question 10

    Two switches asking why DTP isn’t working one switch GigabitEthernet, other FastEthernet?

    A. Because of a speed issue

    B. Different VTP domains
    C. SWA has a FastEthernet port

    D. Because of dynamic desirable mode

  26. Asari
    January 8th, 2020

    @TO

    VACL – you can remove the access-map OR the VLAN filter — both will solve the issue
    – I’m not sure the choice on exam and networktut lab (expired). Can you share the full sentence of choice , Pls ? (by the way, I prefer with remove VLAN filter)

    Sw-to-SW – you can remove all vlans and add 10,200, AND you can also just allow 10,200 and then no shut on the int fa1/0/1..
    – Agree with flamingo. Config has been shutdown on fa1/0/1. that why need answer with shutdown cmd.

  27. 8alienHead
    January 8th, 2020

    @TO: I particularly got an answer from you (seq. 60 – Never saw that question before then) so i owe you this;

    I got 1000 in my test so my choices should be correct – at least. and based on what i chose in the test, the answers are as follows;

    -VACL:::the option with FILTER. yes removing the access-map will solve the issue, however, removing the FILTER is the option they want.

    -SW-to-SW:::the option of NO SHUT on the Port-channel is the right answer. – the vlan non would not bring up the interface f1/0/1 which was currently set to admin shut.

    I wish you the best in your next test. Please take it soon, it is still very stable.

    Hello
    What is the diference about premium and NOV Dump?

    Thanks in advance

  29. Hmmmmm
    January 8th, 2020

    I completed my CCNP Cert by passing the TSHOOT with a perfect score 1000/1000.

    Multiple choice questions from Nov are still valid.
    I got both Sims. Yes the IP was different on the BGP so don’t just use what you’ve been practicing here.
    I got 2 IPV6 tickets.

    As far as the tickets….I used SAM’s strategy to a point. I Did the ping test to 10.1.1.1, 10.1.1.2, 10.2.1.1. From those results I then used narrowed down the issue. If I was UNABLE to ping 10.2.1.1 I did an ipconfig on the host to see if I was even getting an address on the client. If I could NOT ping 10.1.1.1 or 10.1.1.2 but I COULD ping 10.2.1.1 I knew it was most likely a redistribution or passive interface issue which I could verify by trying to ping 10.1.1.1 from the DSW1 switch. If that failed that narrowed my results.

    While learning the SAM spreadsheet aids you to pass..memorizing it can be bad. Oh and DON’T start browsing the devices it will likely just throw you off the trail and down a rabbit hole. Stick to the ping tests and what you have learned and you’ll pass.

  30. Hmmmmm
    January 8th, 2020

    @Lady

    I had that exact same ticket. I did the show port-security and it didn’t match to the show int fa 1/0/1 or 1/0/2 which both said connected as well as a show ip int brief. That’s why I said in my post don’t start browsing because show port-security wouldn’t be my first check…actually sh int status would because it would say it was err-disabled. They tried to trip us up. :)
