Certification Path Changes
With the arrival of RHEL 7, the Red Hat certification paths have slightly been modified.
The RHCSA Rapid Track course (RH199/200) prepares seasoned administrators for the RHCSA 7 exam.
The RHCE Certification Lab (RH299/300) is geared towards very experimented administrators preparing both RHCSA 7 and RHCE 7. This course allows students to practice many topics in a lab with the help of an instructor. Red Hat recommends following this course before taking the exams.

I’ve passed my RHCSA a few months ago, and getting ready for RHCE. I used various books and resources but, once you know the general information, for condensed review of the steps and commands your site is the best.

Hello, I’ve just discovered this site and I find it very useful. I’m about to take the rhcsa exam, and I would like to know if during the exam, it’s possible to use the system-config-* tools for the assignments, I’m not quite confortable with CLI, and find the system-config-* tools very useful.

You shouldn’t rely too much on the system-config-* tools.
Take the time to familiarize with the CLI, even though it can be painful at the beginning, you will not regret it.

No, I don’t plan to do it because it becomes too specific and interests much less people.

How long does it take for the RHCE exam results to be available? I got mine in Friday noon, and still no update.
I’ve got mine in less than 24 hours after taking the exam.
I’ve got mine today. Sadly I got only 270 while expecting 300.
Sadly due to the NDA I cannot discuss it.

If you want to create a forum, you will need to moderate it (NDA …) actively and it will take a lot of your time.
After, I have nothing against this idea.
Same here really, as long as you don’t breach NDA, I don’t see a problem with that. A dedicated forum would be really nice, as commenting on blog posts isn’t that convenient (still useful though).

Thank you very much CertDepot. I have passed my RHCSA today (got result only in one hour) with perfect 300 score and now getting ready for RHCE (already 60% prepared). I mainly used Sander’s video course for the preparation plus few other resources and this forum which solved one really crucial point regarding partitioning and LVM. I have decided to write few tips here for others to get the perfect score.
1. Practice as much a you can especially with time limit of 2:30hrs and do all important tasks in that time.
2. Do not rely only on one resource and check at least three different resources for important topics.
3. Make your advance plan and decide for which questions you will go first and stick to that during the exam.
4. If you are stuck on some question (as I was too), leave it and don’t waste your time on that. Do other questions for which you don’t need to read man-pages. If you can complete all other questions, you’ll at least be safe to get 210. After that, you’ll not have any pressure on your mind and you can try for 300.
5. Must reboot you machine after completing every important task.

Hello everyone, I have a question, I want to start studying for my RHCSA, and wanted to know should I use vmware or virsh (Virtual Machine Manager)?
The question is more: should I install VMware, VirtualBox or KVM?
It depends on your current operating system and the time you want to spend on this operation.
If you use Microsoft Windows and don’t want to spent too much time on this, install VirtualBox.
If you already use Ubuntu or CentOS/RHEL, install KVM.
If you are already an expert in VMware, install VMware.

Question: when you did your RHCSA, did you have a full QEMU or VMWare menu for the Exam VM, and did you have an Install ISO for Redhat 7?
It was a customized virtualization system (certainly based on RHEV/QEMU) but it could change depending on the circonstances.
As already said several times, a full installation of RHEL 7 would take too much time in an RHCSA exam.
Actually asking due to the fact I got the “big fat zero” on my exam recently, due to not being able to boot from a rescue image to reset the root password. Redhat must really be gouging the punters on the resit fees, having claimed to duplicate a normal working environment, yet denying the option of using the default ISO Image. Makes the mafia look mild in comparison.

Does anyone know how much longer the EX200 exam for RH7 will be available?
I don’t think anyone knows but you can reasonably expect the EX200 and the EX300 exams to last until the end of this year.
From Memory there is a number of stages when Red Hat roll over for the new version of an exam. There was a beta phase, for the new exam. When the next version becomes live, there is a period of months where both version of the exam can be take. Red hat may change these steps.
No more version 7 as of 1 October 2020, according to redhat’s site. So you have three months.
Not sure this is addressed on your page or not, but one tip that I like to use is to set my “PAGER” variable to ‘less -X’ to ensure that examples don’t disappear when exiting a man page. e.g.
root@localhost: export PAGER=less -X
Then when I exit a man page what I was looking at remains on the screen.
